Sept. 15th

I am choosing a longer passage this time around and suspect that it may take me longer than two weeks to have it memorized. I have been reading a book called the "Tangible Kingdom" by Hugh Halter and Matt Smay and have been reading the books in the Bible by the apostle John. The theme that keeps coming up in all of them and the call I feel from it is to love others. Such a simple phrase to throw out but so hard to actually do. Knowing how finite my love is makes this an almost depressing task. I also want to be an overcomer through the power of God. I want His love to propel me to take the risk to love others - even when it is painful and though it will involve personal loss. God shows this is the way and I want to have courage enough to follow.

Isaiah 58: 6 - 8 NIV
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

September 1st

John 1:16 is the verse I will memorize and meditate on for the next two weeks. I have been studying about receiving His fullness and being too easily pleased by what the world offers; I have been learning about believing more, about seeking to live a life that brings honour to God, about living by the Spirit and producing fruit.

John 1:16

From the fullness of His gace we have all received one blessing after another.

Love you all,
Nicole

As a family we have also been memorizing Proverbs 17:14

Beginning a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.
